Tulsa, OK – Decades since the Tulsa Riots disintegrated the once revered “Black Wall Street”, where black Americans owned their own banks, farms, shops and homes in one community, the oldest survivor is keeping the history alive. Viola Fletcher along with her grandson and publisher have produced the book “Don’t Let Them Bury My Story”, an autobiographical journey through one of the most heinous acts in American history.
Viola Fletcher’s main reason for finally getting the true account to the masses is, according to her grandson, she wants accountability and justice. “Don’t Let Them Bury My Story” details how her personal family was decimated by the Tulsa Riots and the pain and suffering it caused for generations afterward.
In addition to chronicling the history in her book Viola Fletcher also stood before the United States government to give her grievance of the horrific occurrence suffered not that long ago.
“Don’t Let Them Bury My Story” the book should be available around June 2023 at Fulton Streets Books and Coffee in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There are already rumors around Hollywood that Tyler Perry Studios is interested in turning the book into a feature film, although Tyler Perry did not respond when contacted about this update.
